Marketing is under more pressure than ever to deliver growth, prove its value and adapt fast. AI is reshaping organisations, budgets remain under pressure, expectations of CMOs continue to evolve and agency relationships are changing. Yet despite all of this, there are surprisingly few opportunities to hear candidly from the people making these decisions every day.

That’s why we’ve launched Marketing Hot Seat, AAR’s new interview platform, designed to give senior client-side marketers a place to share honest, practical perspectives on the issues shaping modern marketing.

At AAR, we’re fortunate to spend our time talking to some of the UK’s leading marketers and agencies. Every conversation offers a different perspective, but they all have one thing in common: they’re grounded in real commercial experience rather than theory. We wanted to create a way of sharing more of those conversations with the wider industry, not to provide definitive answers, but to encourage better discussion and fresh thinking.

Marketing Hot Seat launches with a fortnightly interview series featuring marketing leaders from companies including Channel 4, Zego, Allica Bank and Motorway. Conversations explore topics from AI and creativity to agency relationships, leadership and the future of marketing, giving readers the opportunity to compare perspectives across different sectors and organisations.

The series launches with Katie Jackson, Chief Marketing Officer at Channel 4, who takes the Marketing Hot Seat to explore her perspective on why brands should focus on building distinctive communities rather than trying to appeal to everyone, the risk of allowing measurement to narrow marketing thinking, and what separates a good agency partner from a great one.

Whether you’re a CMO, agency leader or marketer earlier in your career, we hope Marketing Hot Seat becomes a place to hear honest perspectives, challenge your own thinking and learn from peers facing many of the same opportunities and challenges.

The first interview is available now, with new conversations published every fortnight here on the AAR website and LinkedIn.
