We can all be more ‘coach-like’ in how we lead (and live) through a shift of attitude and some simple, practical tools and techniques that improve our ability to listen with attention and ask great questions. This can have a transformational impact on the performance and effectiveness of individual leaders and their teams, with clearer alignment and stronger accountability that frees them up to focus on the longer-term strategic challenges faced.
The interactive seminar will promote the importance of coaching conversations within your agency, partner networks and with your clients, positioning them as something we can all lead as part of our everyday work and life to improve the quality of conversations.
One of the best ways to learn about the power of coaching is to experience it, both in terms of being coached, as well as coaching others around us. This session combines classic and contemporary coaching theory with practical application on ‘live’ issues, helping you to overcome individual challenges you might be facing in your leadership, alongside building your technical coaching capabilities. The three core foundations of coaching we’ll cover are:
Coaching Mindset – the importance of unconditional positive regard, of curiosity over advice, and the careful balancing of support and challenge, particularly in feedback.
Listening with Attention – the most important part of a coaching conversation is listening, beyond the words, to the facts, feelings, values and beliefs.
Asking Better Questions – understanding and experiencing what makes a great question, and some powerful and simple approaches to use in your future conversations.
This session is relevant for all leaders and aspiring leaders, particularly those with line management responsibility.
