Be careful what you wish for – Martin Jones
The first quarter of 2017 was potentially the busiest in recent years both for AAR and the new business market in general, as noted elsewhere.
However, if during the first three months of the year, anybody uttered a desire for the market to “slow down a bit”, they certainly got their wish in quarter two.
At AAR Towers, we finished the first quarter working on a digital brief for KFC and a global CRM pitch for Costa, both of which have just made appointments.
New briefs were, however, much less plentiful that they had been at the beginning of the year, but we did begin review programmes for a number of clients who were looking to appoint new agencies. These included Debenhams and Investec, both of whom were looking to appoint lead creative agencies, and Facebook and Zwift, who appointed new media partners.
There was also a design brief from Three for Tony to get his head around and we were also involved in running a review for One National Lottery to help them create a strategy to bring together the various groups within their extended family.
Behind the scenes, we were also involved in a number of confidential projects which never entered into the public domain. Those agencies that were involved know who they are and our thanks go to them for keeping schtum!
We are hopeful that the third quarter will see a more buoyant new business market. The signs of this are already there and we have already started off a number of reviews, some of which are already in the public domain, but a number of which aren’t at this stage.
